Every outpost has its characters, and Station Penguin has a whole colony of them. If you have spent any time on the site, you have probably met a few already. Here is the official crew list.
A note before we start: these are fictional mascots. No real penguins were put to work, and none of them handle your orders. Real humans do that, and real humans also never ask for your password.
The core crew
| Name | Species | Job at the station |
|---|---|---|
| Defuser | Emperor penguin | CT side, keeper of the defuse kit |
| The Snowballer | Adelie penguin in a balaclava | Throws snowballs; three hits give a code |
| Radio chick | Fluffy chick with a headset | Sits on supply crates and guards empty pages |
| Quartermaster | King penguin | Checks every listing against a clipboard |
Defuser and the Quartermaster
Defuser is an emperor penguin, the tallest member of the crew and firmly on the CT side. Defuser keeps the defuse kit and has never once misplaced it, mostly because Defuser never puts it down. If the station has a sense of calm, it comes from the large, patient bird standing very still by the door.
Quartermaster is a king penguin who runs the stores. Every listing gets checked against the clipboard: the item, the wear, the float, the seed. The rest of the colony suspects the clipboard is itself checked against a second clipboard, but nobody has been brave enough to ask.
The Snowballer and Radio chick
The Snowballer is an Adelie penguin in a balaclava, which is a bold accessory for a bird already dressed in a tuxedo. The Snowballer throws snowballs, enthusiastically and often. Keep your eyes open: three hits, and there is a code in it for you.
Radio chick is a fluffy chick wearing a headset several sizes too big, usually perched on a stack of supply crates. Radio chick guards the station’s empty pages. If you ever land somewhere with nothing on it, you will find Radio chick on watch, listening for the way back.
The station wildlife
The penguins are not alone out here. Look closely and you will spot the neighbours:
- A snowy owl in an orange scarf who sits on the Field notes sign and keeps watch over these articles.
- An arctic fox who sprints across the station board, always in a hurry, never explaining why.
- A harp seal pup napping on the footer icicles. Please scroll gently.
- A polar bear cub who operates the ice-core drill in the Ice Core Lab, with great concentration and only occasional snacks.
Why a colony?
Emperor penguins survive the coldest weather by huddling together and taking turns on the windy outer edge. That is roughly how we like to think about running a store: everyone does their part, and nobody is left out in the cold.
In practice that means simple rules. Every listing is the exact item, delivered by Steam trade offer with the same float and seed. The store only ever needs your trade URL. And if we cannot deliver an item, your payment is refunded in full to the original method. The mascots are the fun part; the rules are the serious part.
If you need a real answer from a real member of the team, the Contacts page and support@penguinskins.com are the way in. The colony will wave from the sidelines.
