The AWP shelf: from Neo-Noir to Dragon Lore

Prices & trends · 2 min read

The AWP is the most expensive gun most players buy in a round, and it tends to wear the most expensive skins too. It’s also the weapon everyone notices in spectator view. Here’s a walk along our AWP shelf, from everyday favourites to the dragon in the back room. No prices here, since they move; check the listings for today’s numbers.

Everyday standouts

  • AWP | Neo-Noir: comic-noir artwork in black, white and red. Loud without being cartoonish, and it reads clearly at any distance.
  • AWP | Asiimov: the white, orange and black sci-fi classic. It only comes in Field-Tested or more worn, and at very high floats the white areas darken into the look people call “Blackiimov”.
  • StatTrak™ AWP | Hyper Beast: a neon creature wrapped around the whole rifle. Pure colour, plus a StatTrak™ counter.
  • AWP | Containment Breach: toxic greens with a lab-accident mood, for anyone who likes a skin that looks faintly radioactive.

Bright and stormy

  • AWP | Lightning Strike: violet lightning over a dark base. It only exists in Factory New and Minimal Wear, so every copy looks clean.
  • AWP | Wildfire: a flame-themed design in warm reds and oranges that stands out on any map.
  • AWP | Ice Coaled: icy blue on a dark base, and a regular on our Cold Storage shelf.

The top shelf

  • AWP | Gungnir: named after Odin’s spear, with ornate Norse detailing. It comes from the Norse Collection rather than a weapon case, which is a big part of why it’s scarce.
  • AWP | Dragon Lore: a dragon drawn like a page from an old manuscript, in golds and greens. It comes from the Cobblestone Collection, mostly through souvenir packages from Major tournaments, and it’s the skin most players picture when they hear “expensive AWP”. Our Dragon Lore field note goes deeper.

Picking from the shelf

Something warmWildfire
A winter themeIce Coaled
A long-term showpieceGungnir, Dragon Lore

If you’re torn between two, picture a full half of holding angles with each one in front of you. The skin you’d still enjoy looking at in the fifteenth round is usually the right call. And if you like a themed kit, Neo-Noir, Asiimov and Hyper Beast all have matching versions on other weapons.

Wear matters more on an AWP

The AWP’s long body puts a lot of paint in front of you in first person, so wear shows more than it does on a pistol. Check the ice core bar on each listing, or open the Ice Core Lab to see exactly where a float sits within its wear band. A low Field-Tested can look close to Minimal Wear, while a high one shows obvious scratches along the barrel.

Because our bot sends the exact item by Steam trade offer, same float and seed, the AWP you inspect is the AWP you get. Our penguins can’t hold an AWP themselves, but they are very good at guarding one.
